My Approach to Therapy

Eating Disorders can be caused by a combination of factors including: socio-cultural pressures to engage in body-hatred behaviors, family background, childhood events, current life stressors, and even personality traits. I use a combination therapy approach which includes cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and psycho-educational therapy as well as addictions and socio-cultural models and mind/body/spirit theories. I use specific tools to break the cycle of dieting/bingeing/purging. In addition, I address underlying feelings and conflicts that supported the eating disorder.

Other Experience

In addition to my specialty, I have experience working with depression and anxiety, emotional regulation, stress reduction, illness and grief, life changes and transitions, relationship and couples issues, trauma and effects of child abuse, PTSD, gender identity, sexuality, sex and love addiction, substance abuse, addiction and recovery.
